Collection: Okenite

Okenite is a delicate, fibrous mineral belonging to the silicate family, specifically a hydrated calcium silicate. It typically forms in volcanic environments, where it appears as fine, white, hair-like or cottony fibers that can form soft, ball-shaped clusters. These unique formations give okenite a distinctive, delicate appearance that makes it highly recognizable and sought after by collectors.

Okenite commonly occurs in basalt and other igneous rocks, where it forms in gas cavities (vesicles) created during volcanic activity. Over time, these cavities fill with mineral-rich fluids, allowing minerals like Okenite to crystallize alongside others such as Apophyllite, Prehnite, Gyrolite, and Zeolites. The mineral is commonly found in geodes, where it coexists with these associated minerals, creating attractive mineral specimens.

Okenite is known for its gentle, nurturing energy and is often associated with emotional healing, self-acceptance, and inner peace. Energetically, okenite is thought to help release guilt, shame, and self-judgment, encouraging compassion and forgiveness. Its soft, delicate appearance reflects its calming properties, as it is believed to promote a comforting energy that soothes the heart and helps release deeply held emotional pain or trauma.

The Okenites we have in stock are from Malad, Maharashtra, India.
