Peridot

Peridot is a gem-quality variety of olivine, a magnesium iron silicate that crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and has a hardness of 6.5–7. It is instantly recognizable by its fresh olive-green to yellow-green color, which comes from iron within its crystal structure. Unlike many gemstones, Peridot occurs in only green tones, ranging from pale lime to deep, vibrant green.

Peridot forms in mantle-derived rocks and volcanic environments and is found in locations such as Pakistan, Myanmar, China, Vietnam, the USA, and parts of Africa.
