Tibetan Turquoise

Turquoise is a blue to green mineral that is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminum. It forms in arid regions and is typically found in arid climates, often in copper deposits. It has been used for thousands of years in jewelry and adornment, dating back to ancient Egypt, and is often associated with ancient cultures for its protective and healing properties.

Energetically, Turquoise is known for its healing and balancing properties. It promotes communication, enhances self-expression, and fosters emotional healing. Turquoise is one of the most faked crystals in the market. Usually painted Howlite is sold as Turquoise. Due to its rarety it is hard to find natural Turquoise.

Most of the Turquoise we find available in the market and in jewelry is stabilized Turquoise, which means is a soft, low grade Turquoise that has undergone a stabilization process to enhance its hardness and color. During this process, the stone is put under pressure, causing it to absorb a clear epoxy or plastic filler. This results in a harder stone that is suitable for polishing and use in jewelry. The stabilization process was first invented in the 1950s in Arizona.
