The specimen shows a fascinating record of hydrothermal alteration, with creamy white alunite-rich material intergrown with a strongly contrasting red iron-oxide-rich zone and a darker altered volcanic host rock. The boundaries between these zones create attractive, naturally formed patterns across the specimen.

Under UV light, the cream-white portions show a noticeable blue-white fluorescence, adding another dimension to the specimen and making it particularly interesting for collectors of fluorescent minerals. The exact fluorescent component has not been analytically confirmed, so the fluorescence is presented as an observed property rather than attributed exclusively to alunite.

The overall texture and mineral associations are characteristic of acidic hydrothermal alteration in volcanic environments, commonly associated with alunite-forming systems.

Mineral: Alunite-rich alteration rock

Associated material: Iron oxides / altered volcanic host

Locality: Unknown

Fluorescence: Cream-white areas fluoresce under UV

Condition: Natural, unpolished specimen

A particularly nice specimen for collectors interested in alunite, hydrothermal alteration, fluorescent minerals, and unusual geological textures.
