Green Apophyllite from Ajanta, showing soft to vivid internal colour zoning with clearer outer growth. The green is concentrated toward the core, while the outer layers remain more transparent, recording subtle changes in fluid conditions during crystal formation.
Crystals are well-formed tetragonal prisms with flat terminations, sometimes showing stepped growth patterns from rapid crystallization phases.
Associated white blades are Stilbite, a common companion in the Deccan Trap basalt cavities where these formed. The matrix reflects typical secondary mineralization within vesicles, with minor iron staining and natural surface textures. The beautifully formed Botryoidal Chalcedony at the back tells another story.
