Garnet

Garnets are a group of silicate minerals that form under high temperatures and pressures, commonly in metamorphic rocks such as schist and gneiss, though they can also be found in igneous rocks like granite and peridotite. Garnets crystallize in the cubic system, forming well-defined dodecahedral (12-sided) or trapezohedral (24-sided) crystals. They have variations in their chemical composition, which results in a range of 6 different types, each with unique colors and properties. 

The six varieties of Garnet are: Andradite (yellow to green), Grossular (light green), Uvarovite (emerald green), Pyrope (deep red to almost black), Almandine (transparent dark red), and Spessartite (brown to red). The rarest green Garnet, called Demantoid Garnet, belongs to the same category of Andradite.
