Collection: Topaz

Topaz is an aluminum silicate fluoride hydroxide crystal with a hardness of 8. Its crystal structure is orthorhombic and it frequently forms prismatic crystals, often eight-sided with striations along the length. Many have diamond-shaped cross sections and pyramidal terminations.

Throughout history, Topaz has been valued for its protective, healing, and spiritual qualities. Ancient Egyptians linked it to the sun god Ra, believing it offered divine protection, while Romans associated it with Jupiter. In medieval Europe, it was thought to dispel enchantments, calm anger, and protect against harm. Warriors and royalty wore it as a talisman of strength. In India, yellow topaz was revered for attracting wisdom, prosperity, and spiritual growth. Across cultures, it symbolized clarity, truth, and the power to ward off negativity.

Topaz is found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Australia, Japan, Russia, Madagascar, Nigeria, Mexico and the USA.

Most of the specimens we have available come from San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico.
